I’ve been tagged for the Lucky Seven Meme by Silver Linings:
The Rules:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written. No cheating
4. Tag 7 authors
5. Let them know
This is from my current wip LATWD, the story about a boy, a girl, and a bunch of corpses:
“Uh-huh.” He placed a hand over my mouth when I would have spoken again and brought me back against him. The shock of his warm body against mine held my tongue silent as out ahead of us, within the complex, a group of individuals appeared, carrying two somethings–lumpy and unmoving. They dumped them on the ground and a few with shovels began to dig. The moonlight flashed on a federal badge. Thomas began slowly edging backwards, me still in his grip.
The light uncovered two faces as we vanished back among the trees, Kirby and—Chase.

What a great idea! It’s really useful to see if the interior of your novel has the ‘read me’ factor. Congrats to you and all those you bestowed the award. Awesome excerpt!! I’d keep reading.

Intriguing seven lines! Now I wonder who those people are–and who they’re burying.
(I can finally make it through to your blog, since I’m on a different computer. Hooray!)

the very first thought. I have no manuscript going to page 77.

Some are using page 7 instead, I’ve seen, just to give the readers a taste of their wip. I think it’s fun to get our own work out there.

I was tagged with this one too, Traci. It won’t be up for a bit. I like this kind, although mine is so boring, lol. The middle of a conversation in the cafeteria at school. :)

I’m sure it’ll be great, Jenn. After all, a LOT can happen in a conversation. There’s those teasing comments, fresh arguments, a new direction…good luck!!

Great meme. Love the suspense. What a “lucky” place where the meme ended up in your story. :D
I wasn’t tagged but someone I know did it and tossed the tags out to anyone who wanted to do it. Mine goes up Wednesday.

I know, Stina. I actually went back over the weekend and snipped and added to that scene as I didn’t think I projected the urgency of their situation good enough. The book is very actiony, so it’s full (so far) of little bridges between normalcy and the supernatural. I’m glad counting down the 7 and picking the next 7 lines on page 77 worked. Lol. I look forward to seeing yours.

Definitely intrigued by your excerpt, very sinister.
I was tagged too and hopefully will get the post up tonight or tomorrow. I don’t have a page 77 yet, so I’m going for 47 (the guy who tagged me did 27). Mine’s all dialogue too. Hope it isn’t too dull!

I’m sure it won’t be, Nick!! (Dull, that is.) I thinking using 47 will be all right, lots of writers are using whatever page. Mine was the last full page I had edited (77). Thanks, for stopping by, looking forward to a glimpse of your wip…
