Writerly Things…9/17/17
Traci Kenworth
I spent the week working on Character sheets from OneStop. I haven’t finished with all my minors but I figure those will come as I write along. For me, it gets kind of tedious to do all their attributes at once. I like a little mystery. I guess it’s the pantster side of me. I did print the charts out so when things occur to me about them, I can fill them in. I worked on my two villains this week as well. One female, one male. I wanted to mix it up some.
Other templates I’ve glanced over include two for the setting which you want to plan out before you write your scene. I think this will help me keep track of the world better. I also worked on the timeline which is really proving useful. I have my tentative date for when these wars happened in history. At first, it was hard to pinpoint but I discovered in the end, that it would’ve taken place near the end of David’s reign.
Since I’m writing a historical, I don’t have to do a lot of worldbuilding but I still need to get the area down, how it would’ve been. I’m kind of itching to write but a little hesitant to begin. That first page always is a struggle: where to begin, what’s happening. Did I start too early, too late? There’s a lot of questions and those questions eventually boil up inside you and you can finally put the pot on for the stew of the story.
How are you doing on your projects? Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
