Writerly Things…9/24/17
Traci Kenworth
I’m running late today. I had some errands this morning and then some other things to do around the house. This week at the OneStop templates, I’ve been working on my worldbuilding survey. They take you through a lot of questions. I haven’t actually finished yet. A lot of good questions that make you think deep about the world. Such as what is the education system like. How far has the average person gone? What kind of goods are traded? What do they think of their towns? What do other people think of their towns? All stuff that can boost what you consider when worldbuilding.
My system before this wasn’t bad for worldbuilding either. It asked a lot of questions as well. I might actually blend this with the other. The former is based on Autumn Writing’s tutorial. She went in to a lot of detail about the land, the peoples, the government system, etc. as well. The two worldbuilding surveys are just slightly different and I’m happy I found both.
Right now, I’m having to answer a lot of questions about ancient Israelites and the Philistines. The former have more info available, of course, the latter, less. I have to kind of assume some things with the Philistines because they’re a more advanced culture. The problem is, they have nothing written down with the exception of one partial tablet found during an archeological dig. Their history is virtually lost. You would think for such an advanced society, more writing would’ve been found by them.
How are your projects going? Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
