Writerly Things…12/3/17
Traci Kenworth
I’m going to be changing my blogging schedule some, though you probably won’t notice much. It’ll be posted on the same days, but I will be scheduling them sooner. This has to due with my daughter’s schedule at work and it’s not easy to get my blogs posted on Sundays like I’ve been doing. Her weekends have now come to be in the middle of the week. The lovely world of retail. Shakes head. Anyway, we’ll try this new way and see how it goes.
I’ve passed the 10k mark on my new WIP, so happy about that. I’ve been researching Philistine towns, especially the buildings. It’s strange how advanced they were. I guess in your mind, you figure people of those times to be more primitive in shacks and that and to see what they actually lived in is amazing. I’ve also been researching the food that they ate. Did you know that locusts used to be a delicacy of those times? Locusts! Just—weird.
What strange things have you found in your researches? It’s staggering, isn’t it?
In other news, while I’m writing, I’ve found the OneStopforWriters scene maps to be valuable. They allow me to outline my chapters and see them side-by-side as I’m going along so that I can see what progress I’m making as well as make sure that I’m staying in my storyline. Not that there aren’t deviations, there always are. A new twist or new character takes things a different direction but seeing the chapters laid out next to each other helps considerably to keep me going with the story I have in mind.
Any helpful tools you’ve found?
Have a great week, take care, and God bless!
