Writerly Things…6/17/18
Traci Kenworth
I don’t know how to begin this post. I’ve been struggling for a long time with having time for blogging and my writing. The blogging had won out with the hours put in. There were times when I only gave ten minutes to my writing. Ten minutes! A friend asked me whether I wanted to be a blogger or a writer. I weighed in on that question for months now. I love doing the links, helping others but it is leaving me with little time for my objective: to become a published author. I’m not sure if I’ll go back to the links at some point. There are some I managed to get in for this week. Right now, I need to take a vacation and make some hard decisions. I want to be ready for PitchWars in August and I can’t do that the way I’m going now. So, I may be gone a few weeks, it might be longer. I may post my progress and book talk still. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, I’m sorry that the links will go down for now, possibly for the future, depending on what I decide. The majority of you are writers. Think about how much time you have for your own writing. Would you want that reduced to ten minutes here and there? I’ve always wanted to share my stories. I need time to focus on them, to bring them to live for my readers. I will miss talking to you all and I’m sure some of you will part ways. I’m sorry for that. I enjoyed helping you and may go back to it in the future. Just at this point, I’m unsure. There are other writers I’ve noticed putting up links on their blogs as well, so there’s those to look into. I may find myself doing reduced links like that in the future. To all of you, it’s been fun, I’ll miss you. This is me, now, going off on a writer’s vacation. Wish me luck! Have a great week, take care, and God bless!

What Chris said. As far as I’m concerned, life comes first, then writing, then blogging. Take care of yourself! -hugs-

I decided early that to write was the more important role, and decided to post a blog on two days a week (although I do occasionally ‘cheat’ with a reblog). Write – no one else can tell the story the way you can.

Thanks, cagedunn! I’m thinking I may go down to once or twice a week.

It helps. So does stealing-reblogging-sharing! Which means the wheels go round and round and round – and we all end up the better for it.

I may try that!

I’ll still be around a bit, just figuring out how much. Most likely, I’ll do the book talk and Writerly Things posts.

I know how you feel. When I started my book promoting business I quit my blog. But I missed everyone and decided to come back. I just had to rearrange my schedule so I could still write!
Hugz on owl wings! @v@ <3

Good for you, Traci! I’m also considering a hiatus. Having a chronic illness limits my functional time, and writing and reading pay the price. Take care of you, sister. Your true friends will always be here ❤️

Thank you, Tina! That is part of the problem for me as well, my health is suffering. I loved doing the links but I miss writing and reading. I finished my third book that’s sitting in the background waiting for me to get the first two out there. I have other, older manuscripts but these feel like they’re the ones. Hugs and thank you!

You have to achieve a balance, Traci. It is fun to blog and there are lots of benefits but it mustn’t take over your life and edge out everything else. I hope I will still see you around with your book talk and updates.
