Writerly Things 10/14/19: Keeping Your Head Above When Trouble Calls

What do you do when trouble calls? If you’re like me, you moan and groan some, then bow your head.

First Things First.

No matter what’s up, there’s always a reason and a season for trouble. If you let your bills pile up, of course, the courts are gonna call. If you have repairs that need down like me, you pray you can find a solution to raising the money for them. This time, it’s tougher because we might lose everything if we fail. I thought about a Patreon campaign but that might be too late. The repairs need to be done soon.

So, first I panic. Worry. Grow anxious. Pray. Then set about finding a solution. I’m only human, so yeah, I fail at times. But I pick myself up, pray some more, and then move forward. I don’t want to follow through with some suggestions I have. I want to move on, on my terms. It’s so close to the Christmas season this year and because we didn’t get to celebrate much last year, I’d hoped to get at least one ticket item for the kids this year but with these repairs, and depending on what happens, we might not have anything this year either.

Some say to let it go. Sure, I could start again, but it’d take a long time to recover. I’m not even sure I could.

Then I take What Comes.

Despite my pleas, everything could fall around me. But sometimes, we find a way to go on. I’m hoping the same this time.
