Book Talk 2…6/29/18
Traci Kenworth
The Rise of Hearts by Antoinne Bonner. Amazon Digital Services. Netgalley.
Amazon blurb: Nathaniel’s always been a loser—his only friend is his sister, and girls don’t want anything to do with him. But when he’s given a miraculous gift that allows him to attract the girl of his dreams, he realizes that a gift can also be a curse.
My review: I hate to give a bad review, but this book is confusing. One minute, it’s about a boy going to school then these dream things start happening. I’m not sure what’s reality and what isn’t. I gave up after forty-five pages. I know how hard author’s work and I hate to sound the doom on them. But when you can’t figure out what genre a book is, what it’s about, and what’s going on, it’s hard to read on.

Hi Traci. I appreciate your honest review here. You told me why you didn’t like it — what was in your thought process.
I also like that you don’t use “ratings” like stars or other things. Stating what you like or don’t and why is *useful*. Ratings are subjective and don’t reflect much of anything. TGIF hugs!

Thanks, Teagan. I’ve teetered with the stars thing before. I don’t like to assign them. I prefer to give an opinion of what I liked and what I didn’t.

This happens to the best of us, Traci. I have recently put aside a book I didn’t like too.

I hate to do so as I know how hard we all work.
